The weather forecast for this week changes every time we look at it, we've been promised wind, rain, sleet, snow, cloud and even sunshine. One thing that hasn't been forecast, is that it will be seriously cold, so hopefully no real snow just lots of mud.

Christmas and 'man flu' meant that we had a rather depleted entry for our PCT at Edenhall Quarry. Initially there were five sections and some changes were made at half time which resulted two of them being replaced. At the final count there were three finishers and two DNF. The winner by a small margin was Fred Mills, Second was Tony Branson and third came Eric Gordon, all in Marlins.
This is a super location and there were suggestions that we run a Single Venue Car Trial there in June next year. The Regulations and Entry Form for this event can be found in 'Forms'.
We will holding a Car Trial at Edenhall, Nr Penrith on Sunday 8th December. Further details soon. Durham Auto Club have decided to go ahead with organising a Classic Trial in their home ground of Durham. The provisional date is 25th May, two weeks after the Ilkey Trial. They have considerable experience in organising Rallies, PCAs etc. and we have offered to help them create their event. FSAC were in charge of 'Hill 17' during the VSCC Lakeland Trial. There were some doubts about the viability of the section in the mind of the C0fC when he gave us the paperwork. This is a section we used to use on the Northern when we called it Osprey's Lair. It was incredibly wet and muddy which wasn't a problem until competitors began to reach the upper stages where they had to be towed/winched to the holding area at the top. By lunchtime it became clear that it was taking too long for each car to attempt the section and we were holding up the Trial, so after some persuasion of the organisers the section was abandoned. This gave us the opportunity to check out a potential new section for the Northern on our run to Lorton with the paperwork etc..
We have been asked to marshal on Section 17 within Wythop Woods. We are to meet at Beck Wythop Car Park, map reference NY214284 at 07:45 on 9th November.
For the last few years FSAC has marshalled on a section on the Lakeland Trial. This year we will be responsible for a section in Setmurthy Woods and our chairman will be in overall command of the three sections within Setmurthy. Can you help marshal on the day? You will have a good time, good company and a see an assortment of very interesting old cars: Bugatti, Bentley, Fraser Nash, Austin 7 etc. If you can come along please let Myke know on 01228 530555 or mykepocock@yahoo.co.uk.
The next club meeting will be held on Wednesday 11 September at 8pm in the Lane End Inn, on the A69 a mile or so west of the Brampton junction. Amongst item to be be discussed will be the early preparations for next year's Northern Trial.
